Moksha grew up in the small Pubjabi town of Hoshiarpur, where locals frowned on her teenage dreams of riding bikes. But Moksha’s father recognised her passion and taught her to ride a scooter, and from then on Moksha was hooked. Moksha was inspired to set up Back-N-Beyond after biking the beautiful but treacherous Manali to Leh highway, riding her prize possession, a silver-grey Royal Enfield 350cc. It was a life-changing trip, requiring nerves of steel to navigate the freezing mountain streams that cross the road. She decided to turn her passion into a business, setting up Back-N-Beyond to give tourists the chance to experience the Western Himalayas by motorbike.
Riders traverse a patchwork quilt of geographies, languages, cultures and local cuisines.
Trips with Back-N-Beyond are unlike any other tour, as the versatility of the motorbikes opens up the hidden places of the Western Himalayas. Vertiginous tracks cut under ledges and over steep drops, revealing stunning views. These are some of the toughest roads in the world, like the route through the tribal belt of Kinnaur and Spiti, one of the best-loved biking trails in India, a challenging ride through a landscape of the imagination. The company offers a range of spectacular itineraries, and can also plan custom tours according to budget and time available.
Riders traverse a patchwork quilt of geographies, languages, cultures and local cuisines, passing lonely deserts, tumbling waterfalls, deep gorges and towering mountains. Other itineraries take in the princely state of Rajasthan, Udaipur, City of Lakes, and the golden city of Jaisalmer, blessed with the enormous palaces of the Rajput kings. A small crew of skilled engineers and backup vehicles accompany each trip to keep the bikes running at peak performance.
Back-N-Beyond tours offer the exhilarating experience of a lifetime, operating on the philosophy that the joy of the journey shapes a deeper relationship with our destination, and with ourselves.
